Riding Horses
Bertha
Bertha is a lovely mover whose gaits are suspended, elegant and mesmerizing. Although a Thoroughbred, she could easily pass as a Warm Blood (and is almost identical in body type to our Irish Draught mare Grania – she has her head, too) with her 16.2h bulky frame and considerable bone. Even her feet are huge and solid enough to handle rocky terrain with ease. This ten-year-old mare is showing exquisite potential for higher level dressage competition, with a natural balance and carriage that is impressive, allowing her to already easily handle ten-meter circles at the trot, and on some days, at the canter as well (she’s learning) with a properly engaged hind end, light mouth and frame bent around the rider’s leg. Her pace and stride can be modified immediately and easily maintained with a slight check on the reigns, a seat cue or leg pressure. She’s also been started over fences and is an honest mount who will tackle any obstacle put in front of her without concern or question. She’s a quick study and responsive to a variety of training styles. She’s also a reliable and game mare on the trails. Ideal long-term horse for any experienced rider seeking a project for increasingly competitive opportunities or a novice rider with a knowledgeable trainer who can bring both rider and horse to their potential together. She’s safe and sensible. Of course, she’s also a great short-term task for a rider or trainer seeking a mount to compete and improve for another with minimal effort. Suggest an equestrian with an educated leg and a responsive hand to maximize her potential as an awesome competitor to watch and relish. $6000 or B/O.
Cowboy
This kind and unflappable three-year-old kid (pictures above capture him as a young two-year-old) is amazing . His gentle and willing demeanor makes him an ideal mount for the novice and seasoned rider alike. He already stands at 16 hands and hasn’t begun to fill out yet. We expect him to be 17h or taller when he’s done growing (he’s a late foal). He has handled every request with eagerness, confidence and ease. His mouth is soft as butter and he responds immediately to light leg pressure cues as well as voice commands. Cowboy is adept at interpreting English riding prompts and also neck reigns. His experience includes a stint at the track where he performed like a seasoned pro ponying racehorses. Cowboy has tackled the trails, including water, with ease. He will be a star in any role requested of him. His canter stride is from here to tomorrow and is akin to windsurfing – floating across the ground like he’s skimming with the wind on water. His jog is gorgeous. Cowboy is compliant, reliable, a quick learner and a whole lot of fun. He’s special and extremely unusual in his easy-going, steady and cool nature, especially for such a young Thoroughbred. Ideal hunter/jumper prospect, dressage star or workhorse performer. $7500 (we’re not real motivated to sell him, so this price is firm). |
